June 16

June 16

It was a great riding day today…high 70’s until mid-afternoon, moderate winds out of the SE (I was going west) and an afternoon of the most fun cycling I have ever done. I finished the day with 91 miles and was sad that it was over. The road was very lightly traveled between Circle, MT and Jordan, MT. The terrain was rolling with down hills that helped provide momentum for the up hills. There were a few tough up hills but with that some great down hills through rugged country that reminded me of cowboy scenes from western movies. I saw deer, antelope, hundreds of cows, white (or very light yellow) winged blackbirds and mallards earlier in the day. At about 3 PM, a deputy on a 4-wheeler asked me if I had seen anyone up the mountain I had just come down. He was looking for a fugitive and soon after he and I spoke we saw the police helicopter flying over the area. This added to the excitement for the afternoon; I had the sheriffs’ phone number and was to call if I saw anyone. I didn’t see the fugitive. By the way, it will be interesting to see Jamye’s picture selection from today. She chose from 627 pictures that she took! When I saw her after my first 25 miles she told me she was exhausted. We were both tired this evening as we summarized the day while a thunderstorm rolled through Jordan, MT.
